Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan was known to have masterminded the first expedition to sail around the world from 1519 to 1522.
On average it can take between 3 to 5 years to sail around the world. however the fastest time to do this is 42 days by French skipper, Francois Gabart in 2017.
