The Sailor Nawate utilises traditional Japanese lacquering techniques with a combination of a smoked silver foil base and metal foil flecks to reflect a more Western aesthetic. Aiming to a create a pen with a more uneven colour texture. The result is exquisite with a beautifully finished Urushi lacquer barrel with a matt grey finish. Kaku is adorned with copper foil.
The cap is made using the Aizu-nuri lacquering technique, a traditional Japanese lacquering technique that finds its roots during the Tensho period around 1590. It features a unique striation that flows vertically through the pen cap to give the impression of being longer while giving a more practical purpose in allowing for easy gripping for capping and uncapping.
